Twitch announces it will ban streams from unlicensed gambling sites

Why the ban?

Twitch said it will ban live streams starting Oct.18 with betting sites that include “slots, Roulette or craps games that are not licensed in the United States or other jurisdictions that provide deemed adequate protection to consumers, including crypto casinos.”

In a statement released by Twitter, the company justified the decision by saying that previous measures had been taken but were not sufficient.

"While prohibiting the sharing of links or referral codes for all sites that include slots, Roulette or craps games, we have seen that some people are circumventing these rules and exposing our community to potential harm,” the statement said.

The reason is that these content creators show an unrealistic scenario for casino players who bet with real Money, which goes against the responsible gambling .

On the other hand, the video platform will continue to allow users to stream sports betting sites, fantasy games and poker.

In addition, streamers will no longer be able to show these games in their lives, and companies in the industry will not be able to advertise or display their brands during partner broadcasts.

The new policies, according to Twitch's statement, will be presented in full soon so that there is enough time for users to learn about them and adapt before they take effect, as stated above, on October 18.
